The research at Utrecht University concentrates on new, faster, less costly CVD techniques for the deposition of thin film silicon solar cells. Tandem and triple solar cells with a stable, high output are being developed. Research is also being conducted into advanced c-Si/thin film hetero-junction combinations and new cell concepts based on carbon nanotubes, quantum dots, and photon conversion. Utrecht University has solar cell outputs at world record level.
