The research at TU Delft focuses on the clean use of fossil fuels by means of underground storage of CO₂. The possibilities for storage are:

• Injection into aquifers
• Injection into oil and gas fields
• Injection into coal layers

In order to monitor and verify the behaviour of CO₂ under the ground, various monitoring techniques are being studied.
