Welcome to NODE

NODE, the Netherlands Research Platform for Sustainable Energy Supply, is the gateway to the Dutch scientists in this research area.

The world population will grow drastically in this century, and new economies are developing fast: the world wide energy demand will probably be doubled in 2050. As long as we strongly depend on the depleting fossil fuels, the energy costs will rise and our supply can not be guaranteed in the long run. In addition, we face the risks of a strong climate change due to the carbon dioxide emissions from our fossil stocks. It requires a balanced discernment to inititiate the right actions for securing sustainable energy supply in time. In their reactions to actual developments, advocates and opponents of the various energy options fall head over heels, where the quality of the argumentation leaves often much to be required. It is NODE's ambition to stimulate the debate between scientists for presenting relevant and valid information to politicians, media and public.  Pros and cons must be clear to everyone, in order to have a meaningful discussion on opportunities.

The NODE-platform assembles Dutch top scientists form various organisations  that perform research towards alternative forms of energy supply. They inform each other about actual developments and take up an independent position in a critical debate that is made public, invited or uninvited.  

The NODE-organisation is the entrance to the Dutch reserach world in the domain of sustainable energy supply.

Via the Advisory Board a close relation is established with the government, industry and non governmental organisations.
